RIMS RFID and ROC RFID, radio frequency identification (RFID) solutions

Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Solutions

Labor accounts for approximately 30 percent of overall supply chain costs, making it an area frequently targeted for cost reduction. Using technologies such as radio frequency identification (RFID) to automate business processes can help reduce labor costs and improve efficiency and productivity.

Another incentive for implementing RFID is to meet consumer and regulatory demands that require you to track product-handling information at high levels of accuracy. With constant threats to security, regulatory agencies continue to increase requirements for companies in the food and healthcare industries, as well as others. Using RFID, you can track locations of your products with real-time accuracy and maintain a history of their movements through the supply chain.

To help your company meet the most stringent security requirements and highest standards, Robocom is proud to offer its RFID solutions: RIMS® RFID and ROC RFID.

RIMS® RFID

RIMS® customers can easily comply with the requirements of leading retailers and the Department of Defense. RIMS generates unique electronic product code (EPC) identifiers for pallets, cases, and individual units shipped from a warehouse using RIMS. Using the Compliance Labeling module, a specially designed “utility” for EPC generation, the RIMS Toolkit and an RFID tag printer, RIMS creates RFID tags as required.

We are working with existing customers to move beyond mere RFID shipping compliance by extending RFID use into the warehouse for process improvements that realize a true return on investment.

ROC RFID

The Department of Defense, Wal-Mart, and a growing list of other retailers have launched RFID initiatives that require their suppliers to tag incoming products with RFID tags.

Many companies have examined RFID expenditures and benefits and concluded that the cost of the tags must drop significantly before the benefits will out-weigh the costs of labeling every case they produce. However, the consensus among industry experts and companies is that RFID is here to stay.

The alternative to meeting individual customer requirements for RFID is called “slap and ship.” Slap and ship allows you to place labels only on cases that are shipped to customers who demand RFID. This means you will pick the order for the retailer in the warehouse as you do today, then bring each picked pallet to a relabeling station, print smart labels, put them on the cases and pallets, and rebuild the pallets.

Robocom provides all the components and services required to deploy successfully a targeted or enterprise-wide RFID initiative. ROC RFID boils down the complex process of sourcing, purchasing, and implementing RFID technology into one off-the-shelf solution. ROC RFID offers you a comprehensive solution that can enhance your existing business system, eliminating the guesswork, integration issues, and complexity of working with multiple vendors.

Components of ROC RFID include:

  • Our ROC Enterprise Integration Platform for RFID
  • RFID services
  • Five days of Implementation Services for RFID
  • Product assessment
  • RFID-enabled slap and ship Application
  • RFID equipment, including printer and scanner

In addition, ROC RFID can seamlessly integrate with any enterprise resource planning (ERP), supply chain execution (SCE), or data collection product. Our solution provides the flexibility and scalability you need to integrate RFID functionality across your entire supply chain.
